You have a place to call home. Here’s your chance to help someone who doesn’t.
The essential need for affordable housing in the Richmond Metropolitan area is an issue of growing importance, as it affects the health and economic well-being of communities and people across the region. To highlight this shared concern, fourteen local non-profit housing organizations are partnering together to hold the first ever Affordable Housing Awareness Week, April 19-25, 2009. The purpose of this week is not only to bring attention to the issues surrounding housing affordability, but also to encourage area professionals to get involved with the groups that support these causes.
All volunteers will need to select a project and register online. Lunch will be provided during your shift. There will also be special events held throughout the week that all volunteers are invited to attend free of charge, including a “Party with a Purpose” at Plant Zero.
We sincerely hope that you will consider getting involved and joining our efforts to make a difference during the week of April 19-25. To see a list of available projects and register to volunteer and attend our free events, visit our registration page.
